What to Know Before Your Appointment

We want you to feel informed and comfortable before beginning your restoration journey.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

1. What is paramedical tattooing?

Paramedical tattooing is a specialized form of tattooing designed to help improve the appearance of healed scars, stretch marks, areas of skin discoloration, and other skin changes. Customized pigments and specialized techniques are used to help visually blend the treated area with the surrounding skin for a more balanced, natural-looking appearance.

2. Is paramedical tattooing the same as a traditional tattoo?

No. While both techniques involve depositing pigment into the skin, paramedical tattooing focuses on restoration and camouflage rather than decorative artwork. Pigments, techniques, treatment planning, and desired outcomes are customized specifically for the area being restored.

3. Can paramedical tattooing completely remove a scar?

No. Paramedical tattooing does not remove scars or change the underlying scar tissue. Instead, scar camouflage is designed to reduce the **visual contrast** between a healed scar and the surrounding skin. Results vary based on the scar, skin, healing response, and other individual factors.

4. Am I guaranteed to be eligible?

No. Every client and treatment area is different. Candidacy is determined during your consultation based on factors such as the age and condition of the scar, skin health, medical history, pigmentation, previous treatments, and your desired outcome. If treatment is not appropriate for you, we will explain why and discuss possible next steps.

5. How old should my scar be?

Scars must be **fully healed, mature, and stable** before camouflage is considered. There should be no active redness, irritation, infection, open areas, or ongoing significant changes to the scar. Because healing timelines vary, your scar will be individually assessed during your consultation rather than eligibility being based on age alone.

6. Can raised or keloid scars be tattooed?

Raised and keloid scars require special consideration and may **not be appropriate for camouflage tattooing**. Tattooing certain scars can potentially cause additional irritation or affect the scar tissue. During your consultation, we will assess the area and may recommend that you obtain medical clearance or seek evaluation from a qualified healthcare provider before proceeding.

TREATMENT & COMFORT

1. Does the procedure hurt?

Comfort levels vary from person to person and depend on the treatment area and individual sensitivity. Most clients describe the sensation as mild to moderate discomfort rather than significant pain. Your comfort will be monitored throughout the appointment, and breaks can be taken when needed.

2. How long does an appointment take?

Appointment length varies depending on the service, size and complexity of the treatment area, and whether color matching or detailed restoration work is required. Some appointments may take a few hours. You’ll receive a more accurate time estimate after your consultation and treatment plan are completed.

3. How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies for every client. Factors such as your skin, treatment area, scar or discoloration, pigment retention, healing response, and desired result can all affect the number of treatments needed. Paramedical tattooing is often a **multi-session process**, and additional sessions or touch-ups may be recommended.

4. How long do results last?

Paramedical tattooing can provide long-lasting results, but pigment will naturally fade and change over time. Longevity varies based on your skin, lifestyle, sun exposure, treatment area, aftercare, and other individual factors. Periodic color refreshes may be recommended to maintain your results.

5. Will the pigment match my skin exactly?

Our goal is to create a customized pigment blend that complements your natural skin tone and helps reduce visible contrast in the treatment area. However, an **exact or permanent skin-tone match cannot be guaranteed.** Natural skin tone can change with sun exposure, aging, hormones, and other factors, while tattoo pigment may also evolve as it heals and ages.

HEALING & AFTERCARE

1. What should I expect during healing?

Some redness, tenderness, mild swelling, dryness, or sensitivity may occur following your treatment. As the area heals, it may appear darker or more noticeable before gradually settling. Light flaking or peeling may also occur. **Do not pick, scratch, or peel the treated area.** Healing varies by person, and you will receive specific aftercare instructions for your treatment.

2. When will I see the final result?

Your results will evolve throughout the healing process. Pigment may initially appear darker and can lighten or fluctuate in appearance as the skin heals. The final healed result should only be evaluated once the treatment area has fully recovered. Depending on your skin and service, additional sessions or color adjustments may be recommended.

3. Can I exercise after treatment?

We generally recommend temporarily avoiding strenuous exercise and activities that cause excessive sweating, friction, or irritation around the treated area. Your recommended timeframe will depend on the location and type of treatment. We’ll provide personalized instructions following your appointment.

4. Can I swim or use a sauna?

Swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and similar environments should be avoided during the initial healing period. Excessive moisture, heat, sweating, and exposure to potentially contaminated water can interfere with healing and may increase the risk of complications. Wait until the area has healed according to your aftercare instructions.

5. Can I expose the area to sunlight?

Direct sun exposure and tanning should be avoided while the area is healing. Once healed, protecting the treated area from excessive UV exposure is important because sunlight can contribute to pigment fading or color changes over time. Follow the sun-protection recommendations provided during your appointment.

6. What if I have concerns while I'm healing?

Please contact RESTORED HUE® if you have questions about your healing progress or are unsure whether what you’re experiencing is expected. **Signs of a possible infection or significant reaction should be evaluated promptly by a qualified healthcare provider.** Your safety is always the priority.

BOOKING & POLICIES

1. Is a consultation required?

Yes. A consultation is required before treatment so we can evaluate the area, discuss your goals and medical/skin history, determine candidacy, and set realistic expectations. Your consultation also gives you an opportunity to ask questions before deciding to move forward. **The cost of the consultation is free and held in-person in out Atlanta studio.**

2. Do you require a deposit?

Yes. A deposit may be required to secure your treatment appointment. Any applicable deposit amount will be communicated at the time of booking and applied toward your scheduled service. Appointments are not considered confirmed until all required booking requirements have been completed.

3. What if I need to reschedule?

We understand that plans can change. Please provide at least **48 hours’ notice** if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Cancellations or rescheduling requests made within 48 hours of your appointment are subject to a fee equal to **50% of the scheduled service price**.

4. Can I receive treatment while pregnant or breastfeeding?

For your safety, certain paramedical tattoo services may not be performed during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Please disclose if you are pregnant, recently pregnant, or breastfeeding when completing your health evaluation so we can determine the appropriate next steps.

5. Do I need permission from my doctor?

Not every client requires medical clearance. However, depending on your medical history, medications, previous surgery, treatment area, or other health considerations, we may request clearance from your healthcare provider before proceeding. **Your safety will always take priority over performing a treatment.**

6. Do you accept insurance?

RESTORED HUE® does not currently bill or accept health insurance. Our paramedical tattoo services are offered on a **self-pay basis**. We can provide documentation of services upon request; however, reimbursement by an insurance provider is not guaranteed.

7. What happens if I’m late for my appointment?

Please arrive on time so we can provide your complete scheduled service without rushing your experience. If you are **more than 15 minutes late without notice, your appointment will be cancelled** and will need to be rescheduled. Applicable cancellation fees may apply.

8. What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations or rescheduling requests made within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment will be subject to a fee equal to 50% of the scheduled service price. This policy allows us adequate time to offer the appointment to another client.

9. What is your no-show policy?

A client who does not arrive for a scheduled appointment and does not provide prior notice will be considered a no-show. No-shows will be charged 100% of the scheduled service price and may be required to pay a deposit or the full service amount before booking future appointments.

RESULTS & EXPECTATIONS

1. Will the tattoo look natural?

Yes, natural-looking results are the goal of every RESTORED HUE® treatment. Pigments and techniques are customized based on your individual skin tone, undertone, treatment area, and existing pigmentation. However, results vary by individual, and an exact match to the surrounding skin cannot be guaranteed.

2. Can I return to normal activities right away?

Most clients can return to many normal daily activities after their appointment, but the treated area will need time to heal. Certain activities—including strenuous exercise, swimming, saunas, excessive sweating, and prolonged sun exposure—may need to be temporarily avoided. You will receive detailed aftercare instructions following your treatment.

3. Will the color change over time?

Yes. Pigment may initially appear darker, warmer, or more noticeable immediately after treatment. As the skin heals, the color typically softens and settles. Pigment can also fade or shift over time due to factors such as skin type, sun exposure, lifestyle, skincare products, and your body’s natural healing process.

4. Can I have more treatments later if I want?

In many cases, yes. Paramedical tattooing is often a multi-session process, and additional sessions or future color refreshes may be recommended. Your skin must be adequately healed between treatments, and we will reassess the area before performing additional work.

5. What if I’m not happy with the results?

Your satisfaction and understanding of the process are important to us. Because every person’s skin heals and retains pigment differently, specific outcomes cannot be guaranteed. If you have concerns after your skin has fully healed, we encourage you to contact RESTORED HUE® so we can evaluate the area and discuss appropriate next steps. Additional treatment may be recommended depending on your individual results.

6. How soon will I see my final results?

Paramedical tattooing is a process, and the appearance immediately after treatment is **not the final result**. The area will change as it heals and the pigment settles into the skin. Final results should be evaluated only after the recommended healing period, and some clients may require multiple sessions to achieve their desired level of blending.
